Thoughts on resources for learning - a resource bank!!
Updated: Jul 6
When I was a social worker and starting my work with asylum seeking children, I really wish that I had a place where I could have gone to further my knowledge and understanding. So here it is...... This is not just for social workers, this is a place for anyone that wants to learn more about human issues including asylum seekers, fostering and trafficking.
Podcasts to listen to
The Worldwide Tribe podcast - talking directly to asylum seekers and those working in NGO's this provides a really good explanation of what life if actually like and the people behind the humanitarian podcast. I only recently discovered this one and am catching up, but am loving it!! Have the tissues ready as the stories of human generosity, kindness and decision making have had me welling up on every one.
Yoga Girl: Conversations From The Heart - a mixture between education as well as just life itself (hopefully a bit like this blog), Yoga Girl aka Rachel Brathan talks about most things in an honest and reflective way which I always enjoy.
Elephant Journal: The Mindful Life with Waylan Lewis - like conversations from the heart, Waylan talks about loads of different things but they always seem to be done openly and honestly. He is clear of his own views and invites other to discuss subjects that are important. This includes privilege, the environment, isolation and love.
